what 12in with 1000wrms?

At this point or level of sub you really cannot go wrong, I have the Brahma MKII and love it but I have heard great things about the Mag as far as output and SQ. I would go with the Mag, the new Brahmas are not rated to take 1000watts but I could be wrong. I would say the older MKII Brahma or the MAG.

downgrading from my 15in XXX because of power and box requirements.. thinking 12w6v2, rl-p, re sx.... want something that will get loud with a ported enclosure and sound decent... this is going in a mitsubishi galant
What yea galant? I have an 03 check out the install in my sig.

i've heard mag's are pretty expensive... im not trying to spend over 200 since i bought my 15in XXX for 300 locally....
That does make it harder, you could find one used for around that price. You would probably be just as happy with the Rl-p, I have heard many good things and for the price they are tuff to beat.

Brahmas power handling is not thermal, it's how much is recommended. Also about how much you need to reach xmax in a sealed enclosure. Thermally, the MK2 could take 1600 real watts. I have no doubts even with the smaller voice coil the MK3 can take 1000 to 1200 real watts.

I read this but I am like you and bet that they can take a good deal more. The statement is rather vague but I do like to know the thermal to be safe with any sub. Some subs you can run freeair and never hurt the sub's mechanical parts but then the coil smokes.

NOTE 3: all 2.5" diameter voice coil drivers are rated at 600W. Actual power handling is dependent upon your application.

yeah i've checked out your vid a few weeks back, pretty impressive how's the bx1601d on the electrical?
The amp is fine and the electrical also. Everythings dandy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bigwave.gif.16324171cad2db62cf4f16568b038478.gif
