well i bought an 18...

from mach 5 audio (the mj-18) and now i am debating on the amp i should get for it. i was thinking getting a 2 channel that will put out about 800-1000 watts 4 ohm bridged. do you guys have any ideas on some good amps that are not over 200 and will put out this much power, or is this too much for it to handle? thanks in advance

It wont like 800-900 daily. 700 at the most.

meh i ran mine of 850 daily...sounded good.

ive seen people running 2000 on a pair of them..

A little bit under the wattage you want at 600 watts... but a good amp... 2 year warranty and only 129

i talked to a couple people at ssa and they said it should be able to handle 1000 but theres also really no difference in output between 700 and 1000w except the woofer takes more of a beating.

yea if i cant find anything else or these amps that i found aren't good i will prolly just end up getting one in the 700-800 range. but doesn't more watts make it louder, i would think going from 700 to 900 or 1000 would make a difference.

normally yes but it was something to do with the sub reaching its limits around the 850 mark. so it can handle a little more thermally(mine never got hot off 800) but theres really no ouput diff. i confirmed this with some basic tests in 4.9 cu ft at 31hz..went from 600 to 1000 and id say around 800-850 was the loudest..anything more than that just created more heat.

Even when a driver is not in power compression, going from 700 to a kW isn't enough to register an audible difference...maybe on a sensor they'd be a change, but you'd be hard-pressed to hear anything with your ears.
