i just realized there's a welding supply store near me. do you think they'll carry quality 1/0 wire at a reasonable price?

what kind of strand count should i be looking to get? if they have some for under $2 a foot i'll probably pick some up and re-wire my car sooner than i planned //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

they were closed when i drove past tonight, but i'll try and stop in tomorrow before they close up.

4000+ atleast.....but copper prices went up, as well as anything with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif id go with Knu Wires honestly....5200 strands....the kicker wire only ahs something like 4800

woo hoo!

just went there today and he has spools of 1/0 for $2/foot and 2/0 for $2.25/foot

i think i'll be doing a run of to my amp and big three with 2/0. i didn't ask if he had any ring terminals, though.

now i need to get a couple ANL fuse holders that can accept 2/0 wire.

will this work:

looks like it just accepts ring terminals, so 2/0 shouldn't be a problem:

anyone know of cheaper ones?

also, when i went in i asked if he had any "zero gauge power wire" he said he'd never heard of it before, and asked what zero gauge was. i told him it was just big power wire. then he said, " i have one nought and two nought"

isn't that wierd that he'd never heard of it called zero gauge? i've only heard it called "one nought" a couple times before. i guess it's just different terminology in the welding industry.

also, he said it was 30 gauge strands, so how many strands would that be in 1/0 guage?

EDIT: using values i found in a table online:

1/0AWG: 0.3248" dia

30AWG: 0.01" dia

so the 1/0 would be about 32.5 times the width of the 30AWG. that only comes out to about 830 strands by my calculation.

did i do something wrong? it seemed pretty flexible and looked to have about the same number of strands as the tsunami 1/0 i have.

oops, my bad. i guess the one-ought just combined into one word when he was saying it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
