All I mean is what if you wanted to cross your sub at 50hz instead of 63? Your midbass highend at 2400 instead of some other crossover point that you can select. I'm not arguing the fact that it's easy or convenient, just that it doesn't offer as fine a detail as I would like to see.

okay i understand your point about the sub levels but most subs play fine at 63hz, at least in my cases. i have sub crossed at 80hz @ 12db and it plays perfect. of course its all depends on the application and what not.

but besides that subs, i still say the HU is better.

Wow is all i can say! This deck has quite a lot of settings lol I figured out how to use the crossovers on the deck. Sure is a big learning curve for me! Now i'm learning about slopes etc...It would probably help if i knew more about slopes and what they do exactly.

After messing around i got completly lost in trying to find a good balanced sound. I sorta learned quite a bit tonight tho. i'll give it another crack tomorrow. Thanks for your help so far guys.

excellent site here to learn about those slopes, http://www.bcae1.com/xovrslop.htm. the higher the number the steeper the slope. if you don't know bcae1.com is an awesome site.

Just FYI, the 860 actually has up to 24 db/oct slopes on the mid bandpass and high hpf, and up to 36 db/oct on the low lpf.

I agree with Alphakenny, the majority of amps do not offer a 3-way x-over, have very imprecise knobs for setting the x-over, do not have steep slopes and cannot be tuned from the drivers seat.
