i'm going to fiberglassed my door to fit in the 8" woofer, so next step is to find the best location to place the mid & tweet... so can i just connect the iridium direct to my HU to listen and find out the best location or do i need to amp the components first?

yea i guess you can use the HU to help setup your front stage. staging and imaging is crucial so i think you will be fine using to setup, but of course you are going to need an external amplifier to run that setup.
