Just browsing local walmart tonight and saw they had Everstart Maxx Marine batts. They are model maxx-29, rated at 875ca, 675cca, and 125ah for $85. Dual terminal with posts and studs.

I'm looking to pick up 4-5 batts to put in the bed of my truck so venting them is not an issue.

Bang for buck are these and alright batt to use? They have a 2 year free replacement and pro-rated replacement after that.

It should work OK, people put a lot of weight into specs that do not figure into an audio spec. Many specs like CA, CCA, PHCA, and "max" anything do not take into consideration of staying at a usable voltage for audio. Like with Cranking Amps in many cases the voltage falls below 10 volts in under 1 second and hovers between 9 and 7.2 volts for the rest of the 30 seconds. I like the AGM type batteries because they are a lot easier to care for and not nearly as messy.

No I'll be running a RD d9 @ 1 ohm. Also I have a DC 270xp alt. And at my disposal currently I have 1 Deka 9a31, 1 group 34 Optima red top, and 1 C&Dups12-475fr (100lbs, 134ah).

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy 2 more 9a31 and add it to your other 9a31? 2 would more than likely cover it, the 3rd would just make it more solid if you are listening to it loud all the time. Its 3600 watts @1 ohm correct?

2 more deka's would run me probably about $300 new, maybe $250~ish used. 4 everstarts new with 2 year free replacement would run me $340 ($375 if I don't have cores). I'm usually an overkill type of guy and I wouldn't mind filling my bed up with 4 or 5 batts lol, I'd rather have 2 many than not enough.

I was just curious if these everstarts are a popularlow cost battery in the audio scene, and how they primarily compare to the deka 9a31's.

The D9 realistically puts out 6500~ watts at 1ohm on proper electrical.

Hmm the RD site says 3600. 6500 is a pretty big jump. I would probably figure the everstarts are good for 900-1300 watts each rated. Last person I seen use everstart wet cells was one of my better friends who used a whole bed truck box to house 3 marine batteries (I do not remember the model or size) and that was on an old 2400 watt orion amp. Every spring he had to add watter and clean the terminals. That lasted 2+ years though.

Yeah the d9 is very very underrated.

Having thought about it some more, I think I'll pass and get batts that are sealed. I'm not wanting to freshen up the batts with water or acid yearly, although its not a big issue, its just one more thing less to worry about.

Thanks for all your help sir.

dont even compare the Neverstarts to Deka, really there is no comparison, you get what you pay for, you dont know how many of the Neverstarts I have seen bad in my times working at auto shops, not only that but do you really want a bunch of flooded cell batteries sloshing around acid everywhere inside your trunk?
