Sell the sub for the 8 million dollars you spent on it and get a new amp and a different sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

But i don't much about JL amps you can spend $150 and get a AP1500d (does rated power for stupid cheap) in the classifieds.

As soon as I pick up my 12inch w7 my jl 500/1 craps out on me. First question, is my amp strong enough for my sub? Second, is it worth it to get my amp repaired?
Chances are you were clipping the shit out of it. That's pretty much why the slash series blow. People don't know what they are doing. They run bass knobs and turn that and the gain wide open and wonder what went wrong. That 500/1 will do exactly 500 watts safely and probably not much else. It's got a fully regulated power supply. It's not like non-regulated power supplies that you can get more out of if you can keep your voltage higher etc.

No reason other then overloading or maxing the gains out too high to hurt that amp. I have installed hundreds of JL subs and amps new and old. But dont sell it, its one of the best subs out there. Only someone who dont know about or is jealous of JL - says get rid of it.
