Vibrating Mirror

okay here is a response that might be useful. When I had my awesome dodge stratus I had the same problem. I put a small peice of dynamat in between the rear view mirror and windshield and it took away about 75% of the rattles. It would still shake but not so bad that the mirror would point straight down. Give it a try!

turn down the volume? I dont know if there is anyway to prevent this, mine does it too.
this guy's a tool...

anyhow. i had the same problem, if you wanna approach it the ghetto way like i did....take something and jam it up under the mirror (i used a llighter) and rubber band it into place so it wont vibrate and move down. then make soem kind of a brace (i used sections of chopsticks and duct tape) and brace the top part of the mirror so it wont move up a past a certain point. youll want a brace on each side. if done right itll stay in place with the boom.

here's what i did, but i added a brace to each side a day later

all i really need to do is put my finger on it and it stops rattling. btw...this is actually in my g/f's car not mine. it thumps pretty well and there isnt even an amplifier in there. my car has the same problem but if i just turn it up louder you cant hear the rattles. i may try deadening behind the mirror and see what happens.

Rip it off and just use the side mirrors.
some people cant use their side mirrors either...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

How am I a tool?

man after a while you dont even look for the rear view anymore, mine points straight down after a few seconds w. the radio up.
I have the same problem =/ On certain notes my rear view will just work its way up and hit the windshield. God forbid I have my rear seats down. Then ALL the notes when its up loud make it hit the windshield. It's pretty funny seeing the reactions of people seeing that happen for the first time though, along with the surprise of never hearing a system that loud before. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif People don't know any better in my area. They think my silly little 15" T1 is godly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

for what i quoted you for. turn the volume down? no..answer's no...

mine wasnt too bad until the inside part broke. Find something that you can rubberband to the bottom side forcing the mirror upwards when the vibrations come. then figure out a way to make a brace and attach that to the mirror. i was ina crunch for time and i used a lighter, duct tape, rubber bands, and chopsticks from a local chinese fast food joint near me. If you're concerned about cosmetics, try and keep whatever you use the same color as the mirror's case color. use black duct tape or other colored duct tape. be creative with it. you're may not need to be as bulky and overdone like mine, but i have hella flex. My winshield righ where it meet the metal roof goes ****ing nutz with 40Hz and below....and i havent even tried more than 2500w yet...
