*EDIT: -Now deciding between Dayton Audio H/O Reference 12" or 15" & Obsidian 12" or 15"-

Contemplating getting a 12" Obsidian Audio...or Mach5 Underground 12". Although I don't think the Underground is available on the Mach5 website. Doesn't matter because I wasn't planning on order either for awhile. I just want something to play around with, I'm sure you guys know the feeling lol.

well, both drivers actually do well in sealed. you will happy with either. i had the obsedian 12 for a few days but i sold it locally becuase my box was screwed up. and i never had the proper power to it so i never saw its full potential

this^. but mach 5 makes great drivers also... havent heard much about the newer stuff though.
they're similar to exodus's stuff. looks almost like a home audio sub. they hold their own end.

i would just try the mach 5. just to be different. if you dont like it, then sell it.

The older IXLs are ******. I think the newer ones are just split into two models, the sealed and ported versions. I got a 10" in my girlfriend's mustang on 1500 watts. 01limited has the original IXL 18" in his jeep.

People think you need huge cable for speaker wire, like 10 or even 8 gauge, but with the higher voltage outputted from your amplifier, line-loss is a much smaller problem than it is with the cabling carrying the 12volt power from the batt to the amp. In other words, Im sure the tinsel wire size on the Obsidians is perfectly fine.

I've talked to the owner of Obsidian and he said the 12" would sound better than my SI MAG Claw v1 w/ v3 softpart recone. He has a good reputation but then again he is also the one selling the subwoofers...
