anyone heard of this? going on til march 31st apparently.

im gonna try and get one. i called and it doesnt have to be a new contract, as long as you're eligable for an upgrade you can get in on the buy one get one deal, also upgrading your contract for 2 more years obviously.

i still dont really like the storm, but i figure for $100 (200 total for the one, split the cost with a friend) and we both get a storm for 100 bux, what the hell, might as well get it

only problem, i dont have an upgrade as i just signed up with verizon like 4 months ago...i gotta figure out how im gonna do this lol

You pay 20 bucks for an early upgrade. And play with the Storm before you buy it, I wanted it for months, but tried it out and hated it (with the updated OS)

I'm hoping they're doing this sale to try to move their inventory to make room for the Niagara (VZW Bold version) which I'm looking forward to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

i dont really like the storm, but i figured for 100 bux id try it out. my friend at work has one and he was like, here, type on this. i typed and i noticed his you barely had to press and it barely "clicked" for the letter to type on the screen. it was way easier to type on than any other storm ive played with in the stores. he did the "mod" thing thats all over BB forums about putting a business card under the battery, thus pushing the screen outwards just enough to make it more stiff, so you dont have to click it in NEARLY as much as normal, making typing alot easier. ghetto? yes, but seems cool and lots of people seem to be doing this on theirs.

another feature i hate is no wi-fi...wtf were they thinking? IF i get the bold when its out for VZW, if they disabled wi-fi on it just to be gay, i will not buy it.

i currently just sold my Curve 8330 becuase i hated that piece. i dont like the trackballs at ALL

i had an 8700 on tmobile for 3 years and that was by far my favorite blackberry.

so i bought a 8700 brand new (happen to find it new) on ebay for 35 bux, but a CDMA version (my old 8700 was GSM)

so im running that currently until i find another BB i like, and for 100 dollar (split the cost of the storm with me and a friend) i wouldnt mind paying 100 for the storm, if i dont like it, ill sell it on ebay for well over $100.

i too would like to run the bold, or the new curve 8900. but the only feature i hate is the **** trackball....wish they would have left the trackwheels on them as well as the ball.

anyways, do you know when the bold is coming on for VZW? is the 8900 coming out as well?

and where did you hear about the $20 early upgrade thing? no one at verizon has mentioned that to me as of yet, and ive been with them for about 4 months so i am for sure not eligible for an upgrade yet.

Well, I wasn't at my new every 2 yet, and I went into the store to get a new phone, and I wanted the 2 year agreement price. The woman at the counter said there is a 20 dollar charge to upgrade before your new every 2. Pretty stupid if you ask me, just another way for them to make money off you, but yeah that's what it is.

And FYI, VZW has nothing to do with "crippling" WiFi on Blackberry devices. I've heard RIM has had a problem wtih WiFi on CDMA devices. VZW is not the only CDMA carrier around, so they do not set all of the standards for CDMA devices. The Niagara is set to have WiFi supposedly, but either way, if it had WiFi, VZW would not lose any money because it had WiFi. They require a data plan anyway, so it wouldn't make sense. And the Evdo Rev A is fast enough as it is IMO.

It's just all rumors. All of VZW's new WinMo devices have WiFi, and from here on out they most likely will all have WiFi if the GSM version does as well.

I have the Omnia which has WiFi, but I barely use it, because VZWs data is fine for me, and WiFi drains more battery anyway, so it's not necessary for me.

i retract my statement about wifi, i prally would buy it even though no wifi, becuase i do agree their network is plenty fast for any internet surfing i would be doing on my phone. no need to have crazy speeds for phone internet usage. im gonna ask about the $20 thing though

my storm browsing speed is just as fast as any WIFI smartphone ive used...if not better

The $20 early upgrade is only available if you're at least 12 months into your contract and are on a certain price plan or higher (I believe $59.99) or the primary on your family plan. Your only option to get the BOGO would be to add a line to your existing family plan or convert your individual plan to a family plan by adding a 2nd line.

****. im not 12 months in, but i am on a family plan (i believe its over 300 a month) so for that much money they should just give me the **** upgrade lol

ive heard rumors about a month or so, then other rumors about may 09, some later.. who knows really.
