Okay, here's the deal:

I bought a new cd changer and had it installed in, hanging from the rear dashboard inside the trunk. As you can see in the attached picture, I also have a speaker box directly below the changer. When I first installed everything, the cd changer NEVER skipped, regardless of volume or road conditions. About a month ago, it started skipping if I even turned the volume up a little bit, even while parked, and definitely while driving. What the hell is going on?

Is the laser/lens out of alingment? am I freaking cursed? I don't have $200+ to spend on a new cd changer every 3 months.

What can I do to alleviate this problem? How can I test it to find out where the problem lies?

BTW, there is about 2 inches of clearance between the changer and the speaker box.

i'd probably think about relocating the changer. even though it is like 2" away the rattling of the trunk is shaking your cd player like a baby. i'd move it somewhere else if i was you.

The rear deck probably was vibrating pretty hard and got something out of alignment. I'd see if I could get it repaired or maybe the warrenty is still good. Relocate the changer to a softer area with rubber or foam mounts.

definently that box cause it, i have some 6x9's in my rear deck, the plastic ring that holds them shakes and makes a lot of noice when i bump, and my my trunk is was bigger than youres and the box is facing the other way, so yeah that wasent a smart place to put it.

1) put some kind of soft spacers under/ between the mounting screws..thus to soften the blow..

2)if that doesnt work , send it to get repaired..

3)relocate the changer to a position where it is not vonerable to such torture..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

try on the bottom of the trunk not so close to the box

try fabricating some sort of mouting mechinism using very thick rubberbands and more of "hanging" than mounted. fabricate a basket outta thin aluminum with your jigsaw, then secure some 1" thick rubberbands to that with some pop-rivits, and then secure the rubberbands to the rear deck, create mounting holes and screw you cd changer into your little basket. then go ahead and make some more aluminum panels for the left side, and right side so it wont sway those ways, i dunno. somthing like that may work.

sorry man, but the title of this thread has me laughing.
Gotta love the Simpsons. There is no situation in life that can't be distilled into a quote from the Simpsons.

Why don't you just use a CD player? Its 100x easier than having 10 CDs to choose out of. I seriously don't know why people even get CD changers
So I don't have to change CD's while driving or worry about scratching them. it's a lot easier to push a button than open the case, pull out a CD, remove the CD from the PLayer, put it in the case, insert the new CD in the player, close the case and push play.

Which sounds easier?

the only i would get a changer was if I could fit it under the arm rest for quick access, other than that its the same sht. Or just like using a MP3 disc with like 8 albums on it.

By the way do u have ur sub facing towards u?

Hmm, might try on the floor or under the dash. The wiring is gonna be a b1tch, though.
