upward firing or backward

I remember reading that it's best to have it firing backwards, towards the door. Unless you can't fit it then fire it up. but test out both ways and go with what sounds better to you.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

i have 2 type r's downfired in my s-10 and it hits better that way than fired any other direction. different sub, different cab space though. it might be more of a try and see thing. i tried up, forward and propped the box facing down on bricks to find out. downfire was alot better. so when i built my box i put legs on to face it down.

Yeah but in an s-10, you have the cab area and not a cargo area. That is why it sounds better with it down-firing. That doen't mean it's loud though. I say that because I also see a few guys with walls in their shit and it bumps. In an SUV, I'd say facing backwards towards the trunk/rear door. I lost a few db's when I turned the subs firing up in my Escalade. Firing towards the rear was louder in my vehicle. You are just oing to have to try and position it alot of different ways to see what best satisfies you.
