Here is what you can try. If you're intimidated by the installation of component speakers, you can try to have a local car audio shop doing for you. I have seen some offering this service for under $100 (you can bring your speakers). If you have absolutely set your mind on coaxial speakers, there are two good options, one is within your budget and another is not. However, I wouldn't bother with $100 component speakers.. Most of the interesting options start in the $140-150 price range (Polks, Alpines, RFs, Morels, a tad cheaper, etc). First, you can try the Alpine Type-R coaxial speakers, the new ones, there are versions for all speaker hole sizes (even 6x8/5x7). These are known to have strong clear mid-range and lots of bass. The price is close to your budget. If you want to go more expensive, try Hybrid Audio Imagine speakers (they have only 6-1/5 and 6x9 version). They cost around $200, but they had been described as the best speakers for the money, and they're probably the best coaxial speakers out there at any price. They have a convertible component/coaxial design, so you can run them either way, but I have gathered by now that they had been optimized for coaxial operation, so that's right on for your setup, except for price. PS: Another coaxial option is Morel Maximos, with 6-1/2 inch version sold under $100. However, their tweeter dispersion is reportedly quite bad, it should be more on-axis, so in coaxial setup they may or may not sound well in your car. And Silver Flutes are just mids, without crossover or tweeter. You will not get away cheap with them and probably need an active processor/amp. Stay away IMO.
