So i sent the amp out to orion, and they are replacing it free of charge. now the next question is, what else did i blow.

my components sound like someone took a hammer to them, and im not sure if its the actual components, the deck, or the component amp. The components are still under the warranty from the place i bought them from, the amp has the 1 year from JL, but the HU has no warranty.

im at work now about to clock in and my car is in the back waiting to be looked at. i guess my first bit of troubleshooting would be to swap a deck and see if it still happens, then swap swap swap to try and eliminate the problem.

what caused this to happen...amp started smoking (the hcca) and now my components are possibly damaged along with the hu and comp amp? i dont understand this stuff lol

^^^^Lol....

As far as the components, time to trroubleshoot. Eliminate one thing at a time. Open up your doorpannels and take those components out. Check for any kind of damage, scratching of the voice coil, etc. Test them on a home stereo see how they sound...If they sound good, well then its not your components.

Now, borrow an amp somwhere and switch it with your old one. If your problem is gone then your amp was damaged somehow with all the frenzy of your Orion. If your running a distribuion block to both amps, their could have been a short somwhere which could have dmaged both amps. If the problem still presists, looks like its either your HU or RCAs....

Replace your RCAs with new ones and inspect the old ones. They could have been damaged somwhere when they were run, or the fried amp could have damaged them....

If you STILL have a problem, could be your HUs Preouts. Before you go and replace it, disconect the batter terminal and reconnect it. My alpine had a similar problem and when I did that, they worked again.....

Just eliminate one thing at a time and youll find the problem. I know its a ***** but it has to be done.

Good luck

just talked to the roadshop installer, he said that it had a bad ground and that he just regrounded the headunit, and it works..sounds great he said. lol but im still on the floor and dont know....

comments?

So it sounds good now?

Did they install the HCCA 5000 also?

Your amp could have a bad ground also and that could have been why it went up in smoke.
