Made a CD. Played in my Alpine HU and get the unsupported message....2 songs outta 6 play. What does the error message mean?

It means unsupported, lol.

Without knowing how the CD was burned, the format, the file format of the songs made, it's MediaInfo stats and the headunit.. impossible to answer any further.

Is it an audio CD or a data CD with audio files at the root (i.e. mps, wavs, etc.)?

If it's the latter, what file types are they? Are the unsupported ones different from the working ones? Where'd you get the songs? Maybe they have DRM on them if you purchased/leased the songs.

Memorex blank cd-r 52x 700MB computer I used is Dell Inspiron laptop E1505 Have no idea on how to check the above things/what to look for.

change the file format

read the manaul to see what it accepts. look at whats different between the 2 that work and the others. may need to use a file converter or to find the files properly formatted

If you burned it as Joilet Data instead of CDDA then that M4A is more than likely an unsupported Container.

Headunit's manuals will list what all Containers they support and evenly possibly the codecs as well.

Ah, ok so I did see the Joilet area which can be changed....think I found that out.

Hu is an older Alpine 9833.....prob out of date for the current "times" but I don't wanna give up one of Alpines last greatness of HU's ever built.

I'm assuming that one does play mp3s?

Get you an audio converter to convert your music from whatever over to MP3.

There are several out there for free.

I used to have one i used back when i used cds. Started with an X. It literally supported ALL formats of audio.

Yes it does, it should., I just got the necessary connections to plug in my mp3 player but for some reason I get no sound.

I'll take your suggestion and do some looking.
