Unsigned Rap Artist

Any one in the music industry. I have this guy in Miami, who has a lot of talent. Distict voice and style. He has recorded several tracks (in a studio), but I do not have any connections in the industry to really help out and get his name out there. Do any of you have some tips or advise, or can put us in touch with someone willing to listen to what he has to offer?

This guy is actually originally from Texas. He grew up listening to DJ Screw's stuff amongst others. As soon as I get the website up I'll let you know.

i would say yyes but listening to dj screw is by far not listening to music. talk to g-unit they seem to sign wack *** artists with that style......if its indi style stuff ill hook u up with a good contact.

I mentioned DJ Screw because of the Texas connection, not because he uses that style. Like I said, he has his own sound. I will work on everything this evening and keep you all posted.

to get noticed you need these things....

very stong local/regional following

professional bio

professional headshots / photos

good demo (i say good because the music doesnt really matter)

an agent who will break their back for you

nice website

strong hustle

its all about who you know and how you capitalize on that. chances are youre not going to get signed, but if you want to try you need to get out and start getting to know people. its a business, so treat it like one.

I on the other hand could give two shits about all that crap, i just like to play music.

does he perform locally? Thats the first step. there is a group "Villebillies" that just performed locally ALOT and finall got signed to Aquimini Records (Outkast) and then moved over to Interscope. They opened for Warren G and many others before the got signed. Lots of local followings. If anybody wants to check out some local rap from louisville, ky you can check out http://www.smobbmuzic.com. not to hijack a thread but if you cant get some tracks up you can email them to me and I can host them for you
