Click my gallery to see both my new unfinished XXX 12 in a 2.7ft^3 box tuned to 28hz in my trunk of my 1989 Olds Cutlass supreme. With my RF Power 1050s. I still need to cover the box (dont know what i will use yet looking for ideas) and cover the amp rack (with whatever i use on the box) and GET SOME GOOD Sound Deadener!! Also check out my old sub setup. And tell me how you think this one is comparing so far!

(I tried to post attachment photos but the site wouldnt let me so you will have to use the gallery! Sorry!)

Thanks man i cant wait to finish it i think i am gonna use gray carpet and get it all matching the trunk perfect and cover over the hole behind the amp rack so it looks like a flat surface and cover over where the cap is to hide that ugly *** thing!

YOU tell US how it sounds compared to ur old setup. it looks sweet as hell. How many watts are u sending to it? are u on ur stock electrical system with that cap? do u get dimmagE?

it gets 1050wrms from that RF power 1050s and yes it is stock electrical system with 110amp alt and a new battery (not deep cell...yet) and that cap and right now i get NO dimmage i have never tried it without the cap but some say i will get a little more power without it?

Oh and as far as sound!!! 10 to 1 over the solos!! So So much cleaner i thnk LOWER and even a little louder. It is just overall so much better for me and closer to the sound i was looking for still needs some minor tuning but i just cant believe it is one sub! I mean it is putting my pair of solos to shame! Oh well i like it!! ALOT! I hear also i should get a subsonic filter....Is this necessary? I get slight clipping sometimes only noticeable when you pop the trunk. But when I turn the gains down the bass disappears...So i dont know what to do on that note.

When you say Turn the gains down; How far up do you have them set? like what percentage?

Its hard to say though without hearing. A Subsonic filter basicly cuts off the frequencies below a certain octave... Say you set it at 20 HZ, it either does not let any signal though or really steeply rolls it off... The thought is, why wastes AMP power and cone excursion on bass that is too low to hear....

Box looks sick! I see you put braces in it?1" MDF?,I ask because the face looks thick coming from the port area.

It looks so nice!

Actually it is 3/4" MDF with threaded rod braces and a double baffled front to help support some of that huge as driver weight. it is definately a SOLID box! It has enough liquid nails in the joints to hold it without screws LOL. The gains are probably like 85% if turn them back to say 75 it cuts out the clipping but really really cuts back on the volume of this hog. Thanks for the compliments. Any more ideas for me keep em comin' !!!!

maan retune, that gain is up way too high. to tune ur amp, turn ur gain all the way down, and ur bass boost. Turn the volume up on ur HU as high as u would listen to it, and start turning up ur gain until u hear distortion or when u kno its too much. Then set ur Xover how u like it, setting Xover too high will cause distortion or make the subs sound messy.

Dont clip the XXX its an awesome sub so dont blow it.

What is a good setting for the crossover for the XXX? Mine is around 125hz is that too high???? I had my solos set at 80Hz i relly dont know why i put the XXX at 125 i think i was trying to squess the kick drums out a little more. If i turn the gain way down on the amp it is like i lose all bass i aint shittin' ya it is hardl audible inthe cabin!! I owuld say oncei hit about 50% the bass is almost totally gone. The amp is running at 4 ohms so it is rated at 1050wrms>
