Hey guys,
First off, I am a full time student at CCRI. I work part time during hte school year and full time on all breaks. So, I've been working at this woodshop for about 5 months,I startedin july and worked full time for 2 months and then school started, so for about three months I've been only 18 hours a week. But then winter break started monday and I've been doing 10 hours a day since then. Well yesterday my boss pulled me aside and told me that once this run of work was over with that they we not going to have alot of work, so they were going to have to lay me off. Well I start school again on the 21st of January. I asked him if there was enough work to last until then and he said that the 21st was fine. So, I've asked quite a few people but since I keep getting different reponses I'd figured I'd ask here too. Will I be able to collect even though I am I full time student. Some people say that they look over the past 18 months and I have worked full time since July of 06'. During that time span I had 6 weeks were I didn't work and didn't collect unemployment. All jobs were over the table. Would I qualify as a full time worker because I started as one and I'm going to end the last 5 weeks or so as one? Im in Rhode Island I know most states are different, but thanks for your help.
Eric
