hey i got a reciever in my room. is it cool to hook my type r to it? i hooked it to 8ohm so its cool right? or bad?

Well, it all depends on how much power you have from your reciever. While it's not bad to underpower, you have to have enough power to move it.

Another thing, it's not a good idea to have a full-range signal going to it. Make sure you have installed an inline lp filter, or if it's already a sub out from your reciever then you would be fine.

Why bother?

If you're just testing it, OK...it'll work in a pinch. But for actual use, you're going to want a dedicated plate amp for it.

A dedicated plate amp would obviously be the preferred method for long term use.

It won't hurt it to feed it a full range signal. It isn't possible to underpower it, so don't worry about that. It just might not get really loud.
