So basically for the last week or so i have been having some problems with my radio/amp/speakers.
First of all My headunit ALWAYS SAIS FAILURE when i turn it on. I disconnected the wiring it pulled out all rca's and just had power going to it and i got the "Failure" reading on the unit. I reset the unit, Nothing changed. So i thought maybe because its not wired to the harness im getting this reading. So i wired it up and still get the failure reading.
Now the problem that really pisses me off. Whenever I turn my car ON, with the motor running, I get a very high pitched sound coming out of my amp, ONLY on 2 speakers. When i put 1 set of rca cables in either channel i get no ring, But the second i put the other one in it starts to give off the hiss. It sounds almost as if polarity is switched or something, but its not, It just started along with alternator noise. I noticed that switching from 2-4 channel on the amp makes no different power wise to the speakers. So i switched it to 2 channel mode and now the ring is very quiet, BUT STILL THERE. I tried swapping rca cables but i don't think its the rcas. Actually it can't be. IT DOES IT WHEN THERE IS NOTHING ATTACHED TO IT.
Basically, whenever there are 2 sets of rca's into the amp, it hisses, 1 set in either channel, it does not hiss. Hisses on any of the cables. Like its not 1 certain cable that makes the speakers hiss. And its only on 1 channel. And when my car is started. I have very slight alternator noise. It gets decently loud sometimes but the amp seems to run a lot better on 2 channel mode. Its weird, Is running 2 channel bad? I can tell no difference sound wise as its still powering all 4 speakers. Only thing I could think of to solve this would be to have to get an rca y cable and combine my front and back channels from the headunit into one channel on the amp.. Which would be GAY. Idk what to do. Someone help
