ugh, what did i do now...

maybe you should go back to best buy and let them take care of it, you really don't sound like you have the slightest clue and there is no point in damaging more equipment. Or at least have maybe a friend that is more knowledgeable in electronics take a look at it for you. not flaming just don't want you to blow your HU.

like i said earlier, i dont need any of the "your retarded" comments. i know it wasnt a good move, but we all make mistakes, some just worse then others.

but i do thank all of you for the help you've provided.

when it stops raining i will walk through all my fuses. I just dont understand how these wires totally irrelevent to my headunit, will kill the system. the box is labled "sony bus in" and on the other side there are the wires for the display, power, and controll unit for the 10 disc. then on the 1st side is the small red yellow and black wire real close to each other, and then 2 thick black wires that werent connected at all to anything in the first place.

thanks again, and i appologize to any i insulted or flamed.

either take some pics for us to see what you're talking about or bring it to back to best buy. can't really help you without seeing these wires you speak of and where exactly they go, not where YOU THINK they go.

What I'm going to guess happened is that, since the 10-disk was installed prior to the HU, the HU's power, ground and 12V ignition wires were all spliced off of those wires you cut (since what you cut was the battery lead, ground wire and ignition wire, judging by color). You cut the wires, effectively cutting off the power, ground and 12V ignition to your HU.

But, without pics or looking at your install, it's hard to say. Pull out your HU and trace back the yellow, red and black wires and see where they lead.

it was installed before the headunit.

ill check my fuses then soldier together the wires back to each other. Ill try to get some pictures, but now im off to get a cavity drilled... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Like Squeek said, the "box" may still be hooked up and still have powerr to it. So Either power was taped off it and you cut it or the "radio" fuse in your cars fuse box is blown. Just a few things to check. Good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

what fuse would i be looking at? the one in the head unit is fine, should i check the car interior fuses, or would it only be the head unit fuse thats damaged.

Start there, it could be an accessory fuse in the panel.

By the way..... You're really bad at telling us what you need help with. Is that "Sony box" you keep telling us about an FM modulator? If it is, it's possible that whoever did the install tied it to the power & ground of your head unit. That would explain the problems you are having. Did you take the deck out of the dash at all? Is is the factory harness or has it been hard wired?

Oh yeah, and you're a dick.

And, what does "up" mean??

idiot

calm down buddy, its ok.

2 of the interior fuses were blown.

the reason i asked what fuses to check, is cause i got the wrong user manual when i bought my jeep used.

i say, "sony box" cause all it sais is sony on it, and my head unit is a kenwood, and the 10 disc is a sony. I just thought some of you would know more about the cd changers then i did, i didnt even know there would be a whole other box related to the 10 disc. its what controlled the dislplay and such.

i know i lost my temper, but when your tryin hard to get this out and you make a dumbass move, then when you look for some expert help all people do is laugh, or say "you're retarded", it gets pretty irritating.

edit: the reason i just posted "up" was to bump my thread when it went too low, or to the second page. i wanted help asap and i wanted my page more visible. no big deal.
