This is pissing me off.....I'm havin a problem with my Rainbow profi tweets and Xovers...at least I think it's a problem.

When I turn up the volume, past say a 'comfortable' loudness, after a few seconds the tweets(only the tweets) back off and lose almost all output till I turn it down a bit then come back. Pretty sure its a self protect feature, but my gains are not high at all, and cant be distortion. I tried with 90w/peice, and 200w/peice, with gains set at volume 50 with DMM @ 1khz, its too low so I turn it 1/8th more. But volume 40/50 is great, 45 it will back off on some songs, 50, almost every song. All while the crossover internal bulb BARELY ligts up:eyebrow:

Any help? the rear comps dont back off and they're rated at 1/2 the power, without distorting.

"The crossover of your loudspeaker set are equipped with a PTRCV tweeter protection. Under prolonged high power input of extreme distortion, the tweeter may go automatically into protection and the PTRCV causes the voicecoil not to be burned. You will notice this in the form of reduced or damped amount of high frequency output. If the tweeter protection is engaged, turn off your system or reduce the overall system volume level at the head unit for 2-3 minutes and the tweeter will return to its normal output. The tweeter will go into protection again if previous fault conditions are engaged. The PTRCV is a very reliable overdrive protection." - Rainbow Manual

Hmm, thanks for that quote!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That makes sense....except for the fact they are getting rca signal from an 880 and less then 90w, and dont get loud at all, gains set with dmm

Why would my signal be distorted...what the hell?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

WHat would cause that? I have the 880 RcA's grounded with the ground trick to the 880 frame.....other then that I'm setting the gains to volume 50 on the HU, From what I've heard thats alright:confused:

You can also jumper the protection in the crossover unit with some simple solder work. This is of course like having anal *** with no condom, but under the right circumstance can be just what you've been looking for, so BE CAREFUL, under either circumstance!
