ok i asked this question a while back never got an answer, i have alpine type r components, my right tweeter got pushed in(by some ass-hole) i cant find replacement type r tweeters so my question is can i buy another set of tweeters, like cdt or something and hook those up to my crossover and midwoofer and it sound good or will it be different?

Alpines use Vifa components as OEM, if I'm not mistaken...

I'd try calling/emailing Alpine and asking them if you can buy a replacement tweeter for repair. If they still manufacture that model, I'd think they'd be able to hook you up.

do you just want a replacement grille, or did it damage the tweeter? You can maybe find some on ebay, but I think the CDT tweets would sound just fine, might want to get some other opions though.

whats the difference between the type s and type r tweets they sell the type s on ebay.

as long as they are Alpine, they should be relatively the same. Check out alpines site just to be sure.

The "new" tweeter you replace the damaged one with must be the same impedence as the damaged one. There is no guaranty that Alpine uses the same impedence tweeters across all models.

And, even though the set may be "rated" 4ohm, it doesn't mean that the tweeter and mid are both 4ohm, they may have still used a higher impedence tweeter.

Jack is correct, Alpine uses Vifa to OEM some speakers (the X comps for sure), but I'm not sure if Vifa does the Type-Rs also.
