i have an sx 15 in 4 cubes tuned to 35 htz... i am missing my low end on a lot of songs... right now when i play certain tones air is moving a lot but i'm missing the sound! lol... I want to keep some output but sound quality is more important at this point... should i tune around 28-30htz or just make a huge sealed box and call it a day???

Thanks

big sealed=sq=good response as low as your driver/amp will go.whats the fs on your sub? what amp?

Sounds like your playing notes way under tuning frequency. If the sub is moving and shaking things to chit. Then it is probably playing notes below your capable hearing. Do you run a Subsonic filter?

I have a ported box I just recently built tuned to 35hz. It goes pretty much just as low as my 28hz box...

ok, yes i do run a subsonic filter.. maybe it's midrange i'm missing... all i know is that with my sealed setup and different subs played all of the bass frequencies... i didn't experience that gaps like i do now

Well you should not be wanting any Midbass from your sub. That's what Midbass drivers are for.

First you say it is the low frequencys, Now it might be Midbass and you have gaps??? What is it...

it's hard to tell because it won't play certain notes... can't tell if they are deep or high... i'm going to assume they are frequencies in the 80-150range and assume it's midbass.. scrap the thread i guess

Go with SEALED it will be much more SQ friendly and you won't have to worry about what frequency to tune it too. Not to mention a sealed enclosure will not need to be anywhere near as big as a ported box.

The only thing you have to think about with a sealed enclosure is amp power. A sub in a sealed enclosure requires MORE power to move it. So if you have plenty of power and you're looking for SQ then SEALED is the way to go. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
