Freemasonry and religion

im going to quote the site directly..

Freemasonry and religion Our purpose as freemasons is not that of a religion. Freemasonry lacks the basic elements of religion. Freemasonry is not a religion nor is it a substitute for religion.

Freemasonry advocates no sectarian faith or practise.

We seek no converts.

We solicit no new members.

We raise no money for religious purposes.

We have no dogma or theology. Religious discussion is forbidden in a masonic lodge thereby eliminating the chance for any masonic dogma to form.

It offers no sacraments and does not claim to lead to salvation by works, by secret knowledge, or by any other means. The secrets of Freemasonry are concerned with the modes of recognition only and not with the means of salvation.

By any definition of religion accepted by our critics, we cannot qualify as a religion.

Freemasonry supports religion. Freemasonry is far from indifferent to religion. Without interfering in religious practise, it expects each member to follow his own faith.

Hey dumb dumb. I never southerners are stupid. I said other people think we are stupid because you perpetually give them reason to think that.

I from the South. I live 2 hours from you. Always have and always will. Grew up here, went to school here, and left to peruse a career in the military for 4 years, then came back. I to am involved in the same industry you mention. Not one thing you are doing is above me. The only difference is I deal with people and jobs that actually require me to write words and form sentences legibly. For all of the supposed schooling you have received ypu would think that would be a fundamental requirement.

Now to your intial discussion and post. There have been masons for many many generations. They were a secret organization formed to protect the skilled laborer. They had secret handshakes and rituals so "pretenders" could not come in and steal jobs.

They have since formed into a fraternal organization to help the community and promote brotherhood.

And once again for the slow one in the class. I AM NOT A MASON. I am able to read and form my own opinions based on my gained knowledge and interactions with both my grandfather for 18 years and known associates.

I could point out many flaws in your proposed perfect sentencing and spelling but I don't. My goal is to focus on the real situation and discussion. Not to name call and defer like your doing.

I don't need a brotherhood. ESP one who doesn't acknowledge god. I have good friends and family and ill sick to the ten commandments. Thanks.

I didn't mention that I was above anybody. I simply stated that you are calling me an idiot am IM clearly not as I was able to without any schooling master 2 trades and be a respected person in and out of work and and out of my field.

I don't care if your smart or if your from Louisiana. IM giving you facts and your name calling.

Fact the white and black member go to different lodges

Fact they don't proclaim any religion.

Fact they ban all talks of religion

Fact you have to be invited in.

Fact they have a lot of stories of worship despite they claiming not being of any god.

Fact you are slandering my name with no evidence. You can't prove they AREN'T devil worshippers but you can prove IM stupid and you have yet to do and cannot do so, so that is slander..

what else do you have to say? anything with Relevance or worth?

Belief in a Supreme Being

bullet

The major 'bone of contention' for some detractors, Masonry does not attempt to define or delineate how a person should pray or to whom worship should be addressed.

bullet

The term "Great Architect of the Universe" (or "Grand Architect of the Universe") is used to permit offerings of prayer in a non-offensive manner regardless of the varied religious beliefs of those present. All Masons understand this concept and when a prayer is said in lodge (a blessing before a meal, a word of prayer for the sick, for example), they understand that regardless of the person speaking the words or the usual form of prayer of others present, the prayer is addressed to their Supreme Being.

Freemasonry interferes neither with religion nor politics, but has for its foundation the great basic principles of the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Man. No Atheist can be a Freemason.

Freemasonry strives to teach a man the duty he owes to God, his neighbor, and himself. It inculcates the practice of virtue, and makes an extensive use of symbolism in its teachings.
