Troubles with dic on g6

Im wanting to replace my factory radio on my pontiac g6. Im wondering if by doing so would i really need the dic? Would going without it cause my check engine light to come on??

I think you need the dic HA HA ! too easy!

Removing the DIC is not going to cause problems such as the check engine light coming on. Any features that are only accessed by the DIC will be locked to whatever settings were on at the time of removal.

In the G6 I've worked on the DIC settings were accessed through the factory radio. I used a Metra kit that replicates the DIC and I mounted the control box in the glove box.
