Transfering Files from iPOD to PC...

I've got an old 2nd gen iPod that I want to get my music off of, so I can put it on my new iPod. I really haven't searched around, but I was wondering if there is a program that I can download (preferably free). LMK if there is something out there for me...

im not 100% but i believe only 3rd gen and up are PC compatible. But there is a program called yamipod =) google it

im pretty sure this will work on an old ipod cuz im doin it as i type

i got a gold mini dont know if its end gen or not

anyways

on ur comp go to folder and search options make sure u can view hidden files and folders

set ur itunes so that it doesnt sync ur ipod when u plug it in

connect ur ipod dont touch anything on itunes

go to computer

and double click ur ipod icon

u will see a transparent folder named ipod control

open it

opne the music folder

and u will see several folders depending on how much music u have

etc

open a folder

and voila ur mp3s are inside

just select them all and drag to ur itunes

do that for every folder

done!

yamipod gives the files the names so its easier to manage

yeah that would prolly be better

cuz the songs are all scattered inside the folders

in the folders the names are messed up

they show up like this : xyfnjfhl Jay z

but once u drag em to itunes it renames it just like it was in the ipod

With most Mp3 players, you can manage it through My Computer without having the confusing "code names" that happen with an IPod. Apple just has to make it complicated for people to do things outside of their own programs(ITunes.)
