Hey, guys. At the end of May, beginning of June, I'm going to be taking a trip to Israel (probably.) It's through the Birthright organization, so it's free. I just need to find a way to get to New York international. Now, my friend lives in New York (technically, New Jersey, but he travels to New York everyday for work.), I wanted to go a week early and chill with him, be a douche tourist in New York, then ride out to Israel.

Now, here's where you get to chime in... I'm somewhat torn between transportation. A train is $120 dollars, and takes something like 27 hours to go from Miami to New York. I want to take a train because, well, I've never taken one, and even though they're boring, it's nice to experience new things, not to mention I get to oogle at country side and what nots. I'm not really sure how the seating goes, and I think that's the deciding factor.

For a plane, it's $150-175 dollars, and would probably take something like 3 hours? Which is relatively quick and painless. I know that airlines are notorious for losing luggage, and the train I want to take doesn't have any transfers, so my luggage would be with me the whole time.

The price difference isn't too significant enough to mention, I mean, $30-55 dollars isn't really too much, when considering I save a full day in traveling. But, if I take a train I can do the waving-handkerchief moment.

And I'm not even thinking about taking a bus because I looked, the prices are between $150-250 dollars, and take just as long... and I took a bus to Gainesville and it was HORRID. Worst 9 hours of my life.

poll.....take English lessons before you go
It's a joke, hence why two exclamation points and in caps lock.

i say do the train for the whole "i did that once" scenario
Yeah. I mean, I'm going to Israel, and I'm gunna hike all over Israel and what not, and I guess the whole trip is to do new stuff.

trains are actually pretty cool.....i took one across Canada once with friends...very enjoyable trip with basically worry free travel

i hate your screen name....i keep thinking you are that ********* dude...kusama
Him and another member have very similair Ava's, and I never really remember people's U/N, mostly just recognize their ava... so I confuse them constantly.

Eh, I never really worry about traveling. I mean, when I took that bus I did. I was cramped in between a bunch of heavy folks, and I couldn't lean my chair back far enough for me to sleep, so I had to sit up straight and try to sleep. It was ridiculous.

Take a PLAIN!!
HAHA! I didn't even think of that one.

Find out about the seating on the train. If it's just row seating like that of an airplane's, you're gonna get very antsy on a 27 hour ride and there's no way it'd be worth the savings of $30 or $50.

If you get a booth, then I'd consider it! Or save the train for a trip in the future so you can share a booth with some friends.

They seem to be Row seating, but not too many chairs per row, and it seems like the chairs are comfortable. But, still not sure if it's worth the many hours. I'm leaning more toward the plane now, and keep the train for when I have someone to ride with.

from miami to ny would be running along with the i95 corridor. and there isnt much scenery on that route. a train ride would be more desirable going across the appalachians through tennesee or NC. i say take the plane
