I'm not a tattoo artist. But I have enough coverage and shop experience to pass as one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I really dig the bright, vibrant style of work associated with the 'Japan' style, but I'm curious how is the aging process on such a tattoo?
Depends more on location than color in most cases (hands, feet) But lighter tattoos will seem to disappear faster then a bolder piece in the same area. This is only because the light ink started out light. It does not age any faster than any other colors.

Hope that makes sense.

Okay, well... I'll get a little more in depth.

If I was to go and get a colorful, detailed job done on my upper chest... right below neckline to mid chest...

What can I expect in 5 years?

Assuming it is done by a skilled artist, you can expect it to stay the same. If it's VERY detailed, and has the risk of being overworked, i'd spread it out over a couple sessions.

And most importantly (can't stress it enough) Take amazing care of it.

I noticed you're in Vegas. Have any artists in mind?

do you plan on getting fatter?? if so a blob:crap:

doubt in 5 years a tat will change signifacntly unless u blow up. also depends on how well it was done.

my buddy has some nice prison tats that havent changed, they still look like shit.

Not really true. You'd have to put on some serious weight in record time for it to make a big difference. The sides, stomach, etc is a different story.

Not particularly. I'm still in the discussion/thought phase. Have been for years now. I want to be REALLY sure this is what I want displayed on my body. Luckily, I started a fund when I turned 18, and have been putting money away in it for a while now.

The wifey has some small things done, and we want to get something done together soon. We've done some looking at pretty elaborate jobs that 'combine' when holding hands or standing next to eachother.

Any ideas/pictures you could share? Any artists you'd recommend in the Vegas or Georgia area?

No plans in getting fatter, but I do add and cut weight from time to time depending on my current goals or aspirations.

I generally maintain a pretty lean physical appearance, but I would like to add more muscle mass... is this something I should consider when thinking about tats in areas likely to see change (like chest or arms?)

That's a cool idea you've got. Just don't do each other's names (the "curse").

Just remember, if you're doing it on your chests, if you aren't close to the same height you will be crouching to make it look right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As for artists, I know a few in the area i've met at expo's out there. What you want to do is shop around. If you want intricate, realistic color, go shop to shop looking for who does that the best. Definitely don't pick the first shop you walk into. If it happens to be the firt shop that is the best, at least you know you looked around and got the best. I'm sure you understand this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

All tattoo artists can tattoo with color, but only real artists can make it come to life. See below, if you haven't already seen it. Notice the color in the sunset, the skull's eyes, etc.

As for gaining weight, read my post above.
