Took my Opti2000D to the local repair shop...

My Opti2000D was going into protect mode so I decided to drop it off at the local amp repair shop, BC Electronics (http://www.bcelectron.com) last week. Today I receive a phone call from the technician. He said there were a few things wrong with the amp. The cost to repair it would be $348.50. I said, "348... dollars?". He confirmed that was the cost and I told him he could put the amp cover back on and I'll come pick it up without them touching it any further.

$348.50 for a repair.. RIDICULOUS. I can buy a completely new amp for that amount.

Just thought I'd let folks know they might want to try a different repair shop. These guys may be honest, but that price seemed a little excessive. The guy also tried to sell me a JL 1000/1 when I dropped the amp off for an ultra-low price of $699.00. What a deal.

Exactly. On eBay they're going for around 330 shipped for brand new ones with 2 or 3 year factory warranties. I was thinking they'd charge me 100 bucks or something. Guess not.

bought new in april of this year and came with a 1 year mfg warranty. I can try to get it serviced under warranty.

a GREAT local place in tampa is Alpha Electronics on hillsborough ave. call them. It's 35 bucks to open it and get an esitmate, but the proces are very reasonable on repairs.

I did actually call Lanzar a few weeks ago and the guy wanted the original receipt which I didn't seem to have. I wasn't sure if it was not included when you sent it to me or what. But the Lanzar tech seemed kind of shady. He kept quoting me different prices for getting it fixed. I never sent in the warranty card either because I didn't see the receipt so I'm not sure if it would still be covered under the warranty. But feel free to IM me via AIM if you want.
