how much power are you putting to them and whats your high pass filter set at?

i been running anywhere from 200ish-250 to mine and set to 80 - and under most circumstances take it fine... but there are some songs that for some reason kill my speakers in the midbass area (some tool songs, nirvana (**** me), some foo fighters songs)

Exactly, good words here. My gain for my CAL25's is turned down to about 1/4 of the turn radius, and they still scream pretty good.
