To baffle or not to baffle?

Hello, I purchased some OEM ID cx64's from hessdawg a while back and Im going to install them soon. I was woundering if the "sealed" baffles do anything at all? Im looking at these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3352_American+International+SPP-514CL.html from sonicelexronix, and I was woundering if I will see in increase in bass? Im not running a sub YET but I will soon, and the same goes for my sound deading (Speaking of, is anyone selling enough to do 2 mid-size to large doors?) SO bottom line, are they worth the $11.00. They might be nice just to have for water resistance.

odds are you would actually lose bass from lack of airspace.. but the bass you do get might sound better cause the cone will be controlled better (assuming its perfectly sealed)

i've allways wondered if those were worth it. parts express has foam ones. but i've never heard of anyone using them before.

not recomended for the id the like IB, but doo work very well in a .25 cu ft. or larger sealed box

Since this got bumped at random, I might as well add to the thread. I got a pair from Crutchfield for less than $10 shipped that were foam. I had planned on cutting out the backs but I wanted to see what they would sound like with it on so I installed them the way they came. The sound went to complete shit. I was using CDT HD mids and the midrange got really muddy and peaky and the midbass was gone. I was using a sub but the gap between the sub and the mids got huge. I cut the back and bottom out so it acts like an umbrella as that's the real reason why I bought them. It rains a lot and my last set of speakers had some water damage.

If you're buying to improve sound, look away. If you want some protection from water, these can help.
