^^ i think the helmet is toast... 150 down the drain....

their used to be a face shield on the bike too...it shattered.

After eight years of incident free riding, I wrecked with no gear on at all. I spent one week in a local hospital where they were monitoring brain swelling, then shipped of to Albequerque to have my bones bolted back together. I spent three months off work before I could get a doctor to give me light duty work release.

I still ride, but, with full gear minus the pants at all times. It was a tough lesson to learn the hard way.

...i don't know if i'll ever ride again. It wasn't anything major...At least by today's crash standards...but it scared the shit out of me.

I'd definately have to work up to it.

but it's so much fun though..

There are 2 kinds of riders.....

Those that have crashed and those that are going to crash.
That is the truth, but nothing good in life comes without risk. I ride in jeans, boots, and a tshirt, no helmet. Part of the experience for me is being in the open air and having full vision to check everything out while cruising.

I know riding that way sometimes comes at a price, my dad got in an accident on the hwy on my bike quite a few years ago. He got severely bashed up, luckily he had leathers on, but no helmet. It took him a while but he got back on.

I'll be honest with you. If i was wearing what you wear i probably would have had a broken jaw and looked like nic cage in faceoff....during the operation.

If you crash, you'll probably die.

at least wear a helmet and a jacket.

1,000,000% correct statement there! Been there done that. Got it out of the way. Took 7 years of riding on the street though. Dirtbike crashes dont count :p

When riding on the street, I was always dressed for a crash. No matter how hot it was. Sweating at a red light is better then skin grafts!

Can't disagree with that. When my dad wrecked his head looked like a red basketball. To me though no helmet is part of the experience, for me it would not be even close to the same, so I accept that risk.

Congratz on the 12!!!! LOL. Stand that baby right up there.

As for the helmet, play it safe. Get a new one. Insurance will prolly pay for it if you go that route with the repairs.

It's not a risk it's a death sentence. Of course, then again, you'll be happy somewhere...wherever...once your dead, so i guess until that time comes. Have fun.

But seriously, if your not gonna wear a helmet, at least pick up a light textile jacket man.

Sorry to hear you went down. Lets see, I've broken my neck, lower back, broke 6 little bones off of my spine, both collar bones, couple fingers, they've taken bone from my hip and put it in my neck, bakers dozen concussions, and knocked out like 3 times, I LIKE to RIDE. its in the blood. 3 uncles that are motorcycle mech. there is like 11 bikes between the 4 of us. I am all for full on gear . Yeah and that whole riders who have crashed and the ones that are gonna.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif thats the saying for people who don't ride and grannys

I wear the jacket when its cold out (winter and a little of spring/fall). I look forward to it about as much as fukn a fat girl though...sure its still fun, but not the same experience.

wrong, even caskets have doors on them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

shit can happen no matter what you are riding in/on. sounds like the OP was one of the smarter riders though going out in full gear. props //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
