That's a decent amp. Nothing to write home about but for $100 BNIB it's okay.
When you're talking about speakers that are of the single voice coil variety if a single driver is to be powered by a single amp channel then you do not wire it to any given impendence. What impedence it is will be dependant on how it was built (as you stated...they will just come 4 Ohm, 2 Ohm, whatever)
When talking about multiple voice coil drivers it gets more complicated...

There are other brands to look into....other online sources....if you're willing to buy used (nothing wrong with "previously enjoyed" equipment assuming that the last owner took good care of it as decent audio equipment...especially amps...can last a good many years when treated well) the Classifieds here as well as other forums similar to ours are a good resouce when trying to save a buck or three...
