Think this "blown" fuse is impeding current?

Just noticed my 300 amp fuse appears to be blown/damaged/something not right.

Stereo still works with it in though for some reason, I dont have access to 300's locally so I just orderred a few off ebay, but they wont get to me in canada for a good week.

Ive got a local show I wanted to meter at this saturday and I dont know if I should simply put the fuse back in and run it as it is because it seems to be fine, or just wire the power wire straight to the battery no fuse.

Id rather run it with the fuse in for safety I guess, but dont want a big bottleneck in my setup for the first time ever being meterred.

Just curious if this impeding current or not

Ya it looks like it blew or something to me, as the protective glass is kinda pushed up and cracked, maybe it blew but the glass stopped it from breaking the connection and its still touching ends, allowing current to pass, but is it impeding is what Im after.

And yeah Ive got 2 batts under the hood. Power wire run goes form the secondary batt straight to the amp

Its entirely possible its impeding at least some current. How much is impossible to tell unless its verified by an ammeter.

It will most likely completely blow soon. But you need to find out why it happend first and foremost. Fuses usually (but do sometimes) just blow, burn or deform.

Well Im quite the idiot when it comes to doing wiring with the batteries still connected sometimes, so I may have very well done it

I havent checked the fuse in a good 2 weeks, so I dont know when it happened

I think Im just gonna straight wire the power run to the battery saturday morning for the day, and not touch any of the wiring lol

yeah I have done that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As long as you know the cause and dont do that again you should be fine.
