I just bought a 2007 Chevy Silverado crew cab and am facing a huge dilemma. The 10w6 that barely fit under the seat of my 2000 Silverado Extra Cab is nowhere near fitting in my new truck. I have thought about raising the rear seats, but I'm not sure how it would affect the safety of my daughters who each have a car seat in the back. A fiberglass or steel backed enclosure has come to mind, but I don't think that it would buy enough clearance. My friend built a quasi-console for his 12w7 in a Ford Crew Cab, but it looks like ***, and I don't want it to be visible. My closest solution is to plasma a hole in the floor of the cab, but who likes cutting huge holes in a truck like that?? One option that I have yet to entertain, but will consider, is a different sub. The 10w6 is the best sounding sub I've ever had, and I've had everything from old school Orion XTRs to Kicker Comps and Solos to Hollywood Sound Labs Reference Series (wow, did i just date myself or what?) I like to listen to music with funky, bouncing bass guitar, like Incubus's Are You In or Battlestar Scralatchtica. I run the x-over on the sub up around 100 hz, or whatever it takes to match up with the mids. I HATE a mid-bass hole! For power, I have an old school Kicker ZX460, so there's just under 200 watts into a 2ohm load. As for airspace, I may be able to squeeze a cube out of the larger side. I am totally into SQ; I don't care how loud it can get, just so it matches the rest of the system. Given this information, can anyone offer up some ideas? Thanks in advance.
