They call me "Coach"

Well fellas, I found out today I will be coaching a baseball team made up of boys/girls ages 5-9. I think there are 12 kids on my team. The baseball league isn't the best organized, but I suppose I will be able to manage. I asked the guy running hte program whether he's alloted time between the field for practices and he points to 3 different fields, 2 of them are crummy. I want my kids to practice on the field they'll be playing games at least once a week. Also, threw a little bit of batting practice to a few of the kids on my team. One of the boys was 8 y/o and I was probably throwing around 50 mph and he was knocking the crap out of ball. Mind you that the league I'm coaching in is for slow underhand pitch baseball. That kid hits better than some of the 12 y/o kids that I saw taking batting practice earlier today. Anyhow, just to let you all know that I did get named as coach. The kids want our team to be called the "Yankees".

My did did that for me when i was that age... I did baseball till I was 14 then switched to football.

Cause I just didnt feel liek doing baseball anymore... got alil to boreing to be honest.

Also I was doing karate... ended up with my black belt after 7 years... was an awesome experince

That's what the kids wanted. I think some of the kids parents are from New York. Doesn't really matter to me what the team is called, that's something the kids take more seriously than I will. For the most part it just seems weird when the kids call me "Coach". It's almost like when somebody calls me Mr. ****. I still feel like a kid myself. A 25 year old kid at that.

i coach my son's football team every year, and i can't help but live a little thru their efforts on the field. sad thing is this year coming up, he'll be playing for the school, not the youth league. i will,however, volunteer my time for the leauge (i have two nephews still in it as well).

it's a great way to spend a few nights and weekends.

good luck! and i hope ur yankee's do better then the boss's

Thats really cool mang! I have played baseball most of my life, then got in a bad accident. I used to help the little leaguers and the colt league for awhile, but just never could get into it that much. So congrads to you and have fun with it.
