You ever had one of those friends that knows everything ? My buddy just got a 16'aluminum boat with a 50hp on it last weekend. He asks for me to come with him and his girlfriend so I can teach him some know how of boating.
So we get to the dock and before we launch he grabs a 50ft line to put on the front of the boat. He looks at the rope and says "I dont' need a rope this long to launch the boat." I said "yes you do".
He insists on putting a 10' rope on instead, even after I said a 50ft is better.
So I back the boat down the ramp for him and just before I put it in the water I tell him to unhook the boat from the trailer. I tell him I am going to back up a bit, then hit the brakes and the boat floats off the the trailer.
Well...I back it in a few feet and stop....he looses his grip on the rope and the boat starts to float away.
Both him and his girlfriend start to walk in the water after it...he climbs up on the trailer so as not to get too wet....his girlfriend reaches for the rope, which is just out of her reach.....and splash...there she goes, right up to her head.
She gets the rope and pulls the boat over to the dock. People around the dock are laughing their heads off. I'm trying hard not to laugh, tears coming to my eyes I'm trying so hard not to laugh. So I hurried and jump back into the truck to go park the truck and trailer.
I park the trailer and come back down to the dock and here comes my buddy all pissed off at me cause his ole lady got soaked.
I told him that he just learned his first lesson, use a 50ft rope, like I said. He just ignores what I say and stays pissed at me.
I offer his girlfriend my sweater to wear, and my jacket too, but she said she was okay. He then gets pissed at me again ( or still ) and starts accusing me of trying to pick up on his girl. I shrug it off, his girlfriend tells him to shut up. We go on a slow cruise to break in the brand new motor. I show him how the throttle works, how you shift into forward and reverse. Then he wants a turn to drive. I said it's your boat man just don't get throttle happy just yet as the motor still hasn't been fully broken in. First thing he does is crack the throttle wide open d@mn near throws his girlfriend off the back of the boat. She tells him too slow down as do I. Nope he ain't having it. Fine it's your money not mine. Well as we are cruising down the lake. His girlfriend says she needs to go to the bathroom. No problem he knows where the marina is. He then proceeds to whip the boat into a freakin 90 degree turn at wide open throttle. Prop starts cavitating, boat slides sideways and scares the ever loving p!ss out of all three of us. Does common sense set in yet ? Nope, he backs completely out of the throttle. Now we got a tidal wave looking wake come over the transom ( back) of the boat. His girl starts freaking out thinking we're gonna sink. I got her to calm down when I showed her the water coming out of the side of the boat from the bilge pump. Reassured her everything would be okay and we would just have to wait a few minutes. Few minutes pass, and the bilge pump shuts off. He fires the motor back up and off we go, once again at full throttle. As we round the corner the marina comes into view. WE et closer and closer, the whole time I'm telling him to start backing out of the throttle. He tells me to shut up he's got he hang of it now. Fine it's your boat brother man. We get about 100 yards from the marina's dock and he finally starts backing out of the throttle to about half throttle. At this time I'm looking for something to hang on to, cause I know what's gonna happen next. About 20 feet from the dock he finally backs completely out of the throttle. Suddenly realizing their is no brake pedal he starts to panic as the dock is getting closer rather quickly, then bam right into the dock. Of course the dock was three to four feet above the water line. So his 10 foot rope is having trouble reaching far enough. luckily the guy at the marina had a couple extra ropes laying there on the dock. By this time his girlfriend was petrified. But she managed to get out of the boat calmly. Once on land she proceeded to beat him severely about the head with her life jacket. This lasted about five minutes or so, then they went into the marina. He came back out hopped in the boat. She came out and started shaking her head, and sat down on the dock. She said she wasn't getting back in the boat if he was driving. This was followed by several more minutes of yelling and screaming at each other. Then he grudgingly handed over the keys, and retreated to the rear of the boat. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
