THE Thread

When I had to put my Dane down last year I did it myself.JoAnn wasn't just my dog....she was like my kid (yeah, I'm one of those guys whose animals become part of the family) and I couldn't stand the thought of someone she didn't know extremely well spending her last moments with her.

So, I took her to my folks' camphouse on Lake Bistineau, dug a hole, said my goodbyes, and amidst much sobbing/crying/etc put a .45 round in her head //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

That was one of the most depressing days of my life. I had gotten her at 7-8 weeks old and she was 10.5 yrs old when I put her down.
Eh that's just too much for me. I come from a family that showed dogs and owned a pet shop, I love pets, but I see what you did as making it too hard on yourself. I see the vet as a gift to my old dogs, it's low stress for the most part and they do the cremation (?sp) thing as well.

I still miss my last dog, Monti. I'll hook you all up with a pic of her sometime. She was a pwnin' dog //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif
