question for you guys....

I have 2.5" piping from the catback

I bought a muffler with a 2.5" inlet...and the mechanic said I needed a adapter.

my question is...do I need a muffler with a 2.25" inlet so I won tneed an adapter?

Either 2.25" or 2.75", I would guess. Either bigger or smaller to allow for the exhause pipe to fit into/over the opening...

I don't know what sizes mufflers come in having not purchased one in many, many years. My car's muffler doesn't need replacing and the truck that I have use of which belongs to my housemate has no mufflers at all.
