The way I see it...

Some forums have places for just kicking back and relaxing...makes it more of a "community". Other places, like Decware's and AudioAsylum, are strictly business, but you can be very sure of a knowledgeable answer. Each have their pros and cons...

You come on the forum and display widespread disdain for the majority of the members who have responded to your posts. A recurring theme is that you hold a PhD and that as a result we should all somehow be humbled by your academic achievements. There is a fine line between great pride in one's accomplishments and lowly boastfulness regarding the same. You, sir, have managed to not merely cross that line but jump headlong to the other side with both feet. My mother holds a PhD in mathematics which she earned in the oldest private university west of the Mississippi River. Not once in my entire life have I ever heard her even make mention of her degree(s) outside of a business setting (including a very, very long rant at the Arkansas State Board of Education when a board member foolishly asked her who she was and what credentials she held to believe she had the right to scold them about the inadequacies of the textbooks that were currently in use in Arkansas' public school system)

Just because you hold a higher level of education than most in whatever field of study your doctorate is in does not equate to your being the smartest fella in the room.

Quit being so condescending and simply participate in the conversation and I would wager that you'd be greeted a great deal more warmly than you've experienced thus far.

Guys, honestly, you're missing the boat. I came in here spouting a bit more than I should have about my opinion on this thread. I never EVER mention a Doctorate degree to anyone, it's just that I get into these web forums to discuss some smaller hobbies, and it just really ticks me off when I get uneducated kids trying to sound like know it alls and argue with me. Call BS if you want, but it doesn't matter what you believe of me. I don't know any of you. Truthfully, having a PH.D has nothing to do with grammer ability. Fellow colleges I know can't even remember when "I" comes before "E" in certain words. That has nothing to do with their overall ability however. I just brought it up so you guys would lay off the nonsense treating me like all the other fellow 16 year olds. I know there's very smart guys in all these types of forums, me meeting them takes some effort at times. The ones who will easily argue irrelavant crap are the ones I tend to poke back with, because they tend to never know what they are truely talking about or trying to say. I already apologized, yet the immature ones still had to prevail. I am more of a lawyer than Astronautical engineer when it comes to web forums (I get in a lot of arguments), but that's just me I guess. I'm usually trying to catch those fellows who are close to my level that say, "hey, he's right". Unfortunately a kid-oriented forum isn't quite the place to partake in such an event. So ramble on calling your BS if you will, but I do apologize and I will leave it at that. So what's started after this is YOUR ordeal, so please don't come shouting back at me. The more mature adults reading this thorough conversation will hopefully see some of this eye-to-eye.
