I'm not saying we can't make it better than it is, but we will never get the activity like we used to. Forum tech was built by GenX for GenX. After them Facebook came along for the millennials. Facebook took a lot of GenX with it. Those of us still around are pretty hardcore. People don't immediately seek forums as a source of knowledge anymore because the knowledge base has moved on. I watched the rise and fall of forum tech (you would think someone with as many posts as me would be paying attention lol). I was the administrator of one of the largest computer related forums (MaximumPC Magazine) in the world and they literally deleted their forum several years ago and went to blogging. It's heyday was the early 2000s and then it started dying across the internet. The decline seems to have flat-lined as of late so I do agree that getting the mother fucking search function to work here would benefit those of us sticking around.
Lmao he decided to use the independent search service instead of the internal search..
Which i do see as a good thing ad im sure the db is horribly optimized by vb and will lag mysql horribly.
Anyway as you have so have i when it comes to running large sites.
I ran t-warez one of the largest known warez sites before it was raided in 2008-09..
I became system admin and admin on warez-bb then decided to leave before joing isohunt as a system admin.
Then with the court hearings we all scattered from being associated with isohunt.
As big as torrenting has become people still somewhat use forums for finding web dl for movies and games still..
Look at emuparadise, logan is still running that beast and its still used often.
Forums are not a thing of the past just yet.
Also why do you run your site from home?? VZW fios isnt a network id keep running a site on lol
