THE Thread

I reckon you're likey right, luvin.

Yeah - it is a bit of a stretch right now to make a truly dedicated effort at it, uh, Beat?

Let's wait until there's less than 10K left and then PW like mad to get it over the 200K mark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

That sux, Beat.

I remember a time in life where I basically lived off of gas station/convenience store "Deli" food.

Uugh.

I'm glad that time has passed...

Luvin', my grandmother on my dad's side passed away a couple of months ago.

She was my last remaining grandparent. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

She cooked like a mofo as far as Italian food went as she was born and raised Italian....born in Genoa and didn't come stateside till she was either late teens or early twenties.

She gave me likely THE best gift she could have left me when she passed away....her own personal cookbook containing a myriad of handwritten recipes either of her own design or gathered from the expertise of various friends and family back in Italy.

Sometimes the handwriting is a bit tough to decipher but well worth the trouble once the results make it to the table.

To hell with Cambell's....my GRAMMIE'S cookin was Mmm, Mmm, Good!

that was nice of her, i guess she thought that if she could cook that well maybe you could too.

It was a specific request that I made of her years and years ago that should she ever feel like passing that specific cookbook to anyone that I was calling 1st dibs on it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

It used to be an inside joke within our family that if you were going over to her house to visit do not eat before you go. She was completely unable to have company and not cook for them - ever - and if you didn't eat whatever was prepared it would normally hurt her feelings. Thank goodness she was a good cook! Many, many afternoons in my childhood were spent following her around the kitchen asking why she was using this spice or that spice and why the *whatever ingredient* was important to the dish she was preparing.

I learned very early that it is a good idea to pay attention to your elders...they know stuff that can become very handy knowledge when you get older yourself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It wasn't blocked for me - I just had to click the agreement to the disclaimer that the images I was about to view might be of a graphic and violent nature or some such silliness.

After agreeing to that it showed me the vid.

It was pretty gruesome...
