heres my question.

When deadening and foaming, would it be best to put the deadener on the metal, followed by foam between two panels, or deadner on backside of panels and foam the rest?

i have some really bad rattles, but want to deaden too.

rattles are caused by two hard surfaces vibrating against eachother. to eliminate that you put something soft between the two panels.

adding deadener can reduce some vibrations and thus reduce some rattles - but usually won't eliminate them. deaden metal to control resonance. use foam to squelch rattles - foam placement is key.

you don't need foam, felt tape can work as well

What kind of vehicle do you have and where are most of your rattles?

i have a 2000 celica. its all in the hatch area. go figure. factory, there is no padding what so ever between plastic panel and bare body metal. but alright. ill deaden and then felt/foam it.

I deaden to take care of most of the rattling and if any panels are slapping together pick up some weather stripping from lowes...if you are looking for a more permanent solution pick up some expanding spray foam

I have the same issue with my tC. Its the only part i cant get to stop. Just deadner helped but not completly

weatherstip foam tape and self tapping screws can work wonder along with deadener. Never use spray foam, **** is too messy...

yeah typically how toyotas are.. lexus factory deadens their cars great though..
