I made this post to get an idea whatt every one thinks, the future of audio will be...car audio or not.

My idea, would be every woofer would be extremely efficient.Where you dunt need a huge exspensive amp to power them. Having a low low powered amp to drive them.. Seems like an realistic idea.

My other idea is mayb car audio companys can give ous choices as to, start making electrostatic speakers instead of woofers in cars..Ive heard a couple audiophile setups with Martin logans and wow do they sound nice, buh they then again they POWER THIRSTY as hitler.. It be sum thin new.

well yah thats my idea, feel free to throw around sum ideas..

the future of audio...who cares, it won't neccessarily sound better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

High efficiency setups with low powered amps already exist. In fact, I'm building one.

you can say what you want about digital media, but i challenge you to make something sound better than a turntable, tubes, and high efficiency loudspeakers...

What will probably happen is things will become easier. Vehicles will go to 24V or even 48V electrical systems, making really high power levels possible for even non-competitors. Woofers will become more linear as better motor technologies hit the market and Xmax will go through the roof. Cars will continue to get harder and harder to work on...so more knowledge will be needed to tear apart these computerized beasts.

i can fart really loud sometimes.

Unless if its ........A KRELL AMP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

any way, i think miss informd you guys, mayb High efficiency subwoofer or sum thin like that..Just that every wear subwoofer wattage goes up and up and amps get bigger n bigger..

O ya for real krell ownz, but i do like how tubes sound like..i wish they made a krell tube mono block ? LOL i wish.

You are very right..all these intgr systems **** : (

I think we're going to hit a brick wall when it comes to what we can and can't hear. Already there are amp specifications that are arguably inaudible. One day even the cheapest audio will reach that threshhold and audio companies will have to devise new brainwashing strategies for the masses. Soon after the brainwashing has been completed Richard Clark will stand up and say that all audio products sound the same. He will then be assassinated by members of the Harman/Kardon assassination squad and the audiophiles will rejoice. We will then be forced to join audio related labor camps so that companies can sell products cheap enough that consumers won't turn to the internet. Unfortuanately all of the consumers will have died from exhaustion and lack of food and the audio industry will collapse.

They are 200-300W monoblock push-pull tube amps out there, but even that's approaching the point of diminishing returns as the benefits of tubes (even order distortion resulting in a different tone in the midrange and smooth frequency rolloff) aren't as noticeable in the subbass region. They simply aren't the best thing for the job.

High efficiency subwoofer or sum thin like that..
Two words for you. Folded horn //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok now lets discuss the legalization of marijuna now. our future generations are depending on the legalization of marijuana so act now everyone!! even if you don't involve yourself with weed.. do it!! your children DEPEND on it! at least i do.

shut up....... This is a car audio forum, I'd prefer to keep it that way.

Future of audio will be ...
1) More efficient amplifiers

2) Less efficient speakers

3) More powerful amplifiers

4) More emphasis on surround sound

5) Greater Xmax

*actually* - this is the lounge of a car audio forum, where marijuana legalization has been discussed in a rather lengthy thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

But this thread isn't that one, and let's not combine the two.

My bad, I just assumed it was in the General C.A. Discussion Forum. Anyway he needs to not take his anger out on the forums just because Noah's grinding his nuts in another thread...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Unfortunately for you, you lack knowledge of speaker design ...
Efficiency is depedent on 3 things: Fs, Vas, and Qes

Sealed enclosure size is dependent on 2 things: Vas and Qts

Sales of subwoofers are mostly dependent on 1 thing: Power handling

Subwoofers (and speakers) will continue to get less and less efficient because of increasing demand for smaller enclosures, higher power handling, and lower response ... A smaller enclosure requires a lower Vas and lower Qes ... Lower response = lower Fs = lower efficiency ...

Efficiency = 112 + 10*Log(9.64*10^-10*Fs^3*Vas/Qes)
"you lack knowledge of speaker design"

ya no ****..

^^ but i was bout to say it..o well.. any way you know what i mean..

I think the current trend of audio is towards simplcity and convience instead of actual sound quality. Just look at the popularity of the ipod; it is simple enough for most anyone to use and the majority of users listen to lossy mp3 encoded songs on it. Most people can't tell the difference between redbook standard and mp3 on their tiny earbuds or boombox speakers.

Also, until a very good lossless compression method comes out that can attract the masses, **** mp3 quality stuff will be the norm. Even in the world of redbook standard, higher sampling rates and higher bitrates have been around for quite awhile but DVD-A and SACDs never caught on. It'll take quite an effort to convert people to a better standard of fidelity, but with the cost of digital storage space decreasing, it is very possible.

Last, you have a huge problem with the recording industry and the hacks who make it up. Radio, MTV, and the record labels themselves push music that appeals to the lowest common denominator. The homogeny of the material is simple, repetitive, and made to sound decent on whatever minisystem Best Buy or Circuit City has on sale this week. If you happen to find an artist who has the ability to sound good, they still get the studio treatment of being compressed beyond belief and EQed to non-existance. The industry wants loud records with a dynamic range of +/-3db. Unless you listen to jazz or classical, you will experience this phenomenon on most new recordings.

Fidelity is just not a priority anymore. The trend in home systems is toward 5.1 home theatre systems and the auto sound industry caters to those who want to play stereo wars at a red light. Still, a large problem is also the perception of good sound quality being out of reach of most normal people in the guise of several thousand dollars systems with names like Wilson Audio, Meridian, and Mark Levinson. Ask most consumers and they will tell you the pinacle of sound reproduction is Bose with their "budget"systems! I don't see the tide turning anytime fast.

48volt systems
Can´t wait. With that kind of voltage, 100wrms HUs will become the norm.

Makes me wonder, I know it´s off topic (kinda) but if you built a 48v piece of electronics, could it not be run at 12v without any ill consequences, assuming it´s not going to try to draw huge amperage at the same time?
