Did some research on those a while back.

Looks like the door goes into the car, but it actually slides under it. I think Mercedes experimented/prototyped with using that kind of design. There is a custom company in Europe that will do it if you have enough money$.

Still like butterfly doors more though.

If you got in an accident, I'm not sure if the doors would have the same structural integrity of the stock ones.

Especially in a convertible, i would not want that. There is a lot of reinforcement added to the bottom frame of convertibles. Cant imagine that the doors and the reinforcements would both fit on the underside of the car

Yep.

I may get vertical doors for my car some day. Not too worried about that stuff right now though
