maybe.....maybe not

population control...

also...there are many treatments that can extend a person's life and health, but not cure the actual disease. Those companies producing these treatments would suffer a heavy financial blow if a cure was discovered.

I dunno really...would the gov't really screw us?

Should have made 4 options. I think it does 2 things...controls population and makes money off treatment.
