Terminology for Beginners

Hi well i am brand new to the world of car audio and am very interested in learning about it. i have heard terms like rear stage front stage and all that, but i have no idea what it means. i just understand subs, amps, and a little of head units but i dont quite understand anything else besides that so i was just hoping someone could give me a little lesson on car audio terms so that when im on here and i hear certain terms ill know what they are talking about.

oh yeah just a little side question i thought id ask real quick..

well im getting two 12" kicker l7's together they put out 1500 rms at 2 ohms and im getting an amp to match it. so ive been hearing that like once you get to 1500 rms you need to upgrade your alternator but then i hear when its OVER 1500 rms. so just wanted to know if i own an SUV will i need to upgrade it? cause i also heard that if i have an SUV the alternator is already big enough to withstand it.

It would depend what size alternator and how good the stock electrical is in the SUV. My wife has a 2002 Honda minivan that can hardly take 600 watts and I have a '99 Monte Carlo that can take 1200 with no big 3 and stock electrical.... It all depends.
