Now, if you want to change the facts so that little Suzie rotten crotch is trying to decide whether she has enough movie to go on Spring Break, then yes, she has a bunch of money.

Well, even the home ownership should be taken with respect to the amount of the home. For my house $50k would be plenty of safety. Not for this house? I have no idea what kind of lender would loan these two crackpots $300k.

Renting would be very stupid.
However, living paycheck to paycheck is also unwise. I would look into a smaller investment house until they are both at better points in their life to afford the house they really want.
