Tell me everything you know about Bass Cubes

I know there are a lot of bass processors out there that add bass to the music when the processor thinks bass is missing. I thought bass cube acted more like an sub eq and subsonic filter. I went to a place that used to sell phoenix gold and bass cubes and the installer made it sound like the old audio control products that put bass back in. I am building a T line and want some protection for my subs and thought the bass cube was a better option. Help me out
